So what is this low carb diet called Paleo Diet?

Simply, it’s a diet based on consuming wholesome foods that are contemporary in nature, but taken from a variety of food groups that our ancestors consumed within the Paleolithic era, and up until around 10,000 years ago.

The foods would have included seafoods, fruits and vegetables, fresh meats which are grass-produced or free-range, nuts, seeds, and healthy oils such as olive oil, avocado, coconut, walnut, and macadamia oils.

What would not be a part of our ancestral diet would be dairy products, legumes, cereal grains, processed foods, and refined sugars.

Scientific research carried out over a period of decades by Dr Loren Cordain and colleagues found that our hunter-gatherer ancestors were fortunate to avoid such illnesses that are now epidemic in western society. For example:

– obesity

– cancer

– Type 2 diabetes

– cardiovascular disease (strokes, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, heart disease, atherosclerosis)

– osteoporosis

– glaucoma, macular degeneration, myopia (nearsightedness)

– hemorrhoids, gastric reflux, diverticulosis, varicose veins

– autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, ulcerative colitis, and more…)

– gout

– acne

I've tried low carb recipes and I really like them. You can make them really tasty by adding herbs and spices, and it's not difficult to cook up a really good meal within 15 mins.
