This is because your body never gets around to burning the fat reserved in your body, which is where your actual excess weight is. By limiting the number of carbs, you are forcing your body to burn off the fat you have in reserve. As a result, you are able to lose weight.

Although this low carb diet seems to work well at helping people lose weight, it still is relatively new to the diet scene. As a result, not all the side effects of it are known. This is why it is important to consult your doctor before you start any kind of diet. They will help you choose the one that is best for you.
