Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, author of “Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease” talks about the absence of research for the paleo diet. All of the chronic disease such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, etc. are all made worse by the consumption of animal-based products. Research from the Cleveland Clinic shows that even intestinal bacteria in omnivores produces trimethyl amines (TMA) that is oxidized to trimethyl amino oxide (TMAO) which promotes aggressive vascular disease. Vegans do not produce TMAO.

    this dr is full of absolute shit. Paleo is very very healthy and Saturated fat has not scientific or dietary link to heart disease. We need Gut Flora. Gut flora HELPS us. Dr want ypu to eat bad so you stay sick so they can get more money by perscribing you more drugs and more vitamins that ypur body will lack because you dont have the healthy bacteria your body needs to fight off illness'

    Paleo>vegan for health and longevity. We were meant to eat animals. All of the studies and information provided is true if you eat PROCESSED meat/eggs/dairy. If you eat organic free range chicken eggs,grass fed meat and supplement with low Mercury fish 2x per week you will be healthy.

    Just watched Joe Rogan's podcast with this paleo guy Chris Kessner yesterday where they talk about how cholesterol and saturated fat ain't bad at all for us.. This was very interesting new info for me and would love to hear Esselstyn speak more about this notion that cholesterol and saturated fat cause heart disease is old information and the new studies don't back this up anymore.

    I"m a bit confused, does this mean someone on a plant based diet that eats a piece of meat very rarely doesn't have the same negative outcomes as someone that eats meat regularly due to this bacteria (or lack of in the case of plant based)?

    Do you even know what the paleo diet is? Sweet potatoes, avocados, vegetables and nuts are "paleo approved", too, and you can even follow the diet and just eat those things. Also, the dangers of following the advice of most Youtube vegans: obesity and (pre-)diabetes. Case in point – Julia Boer.
